About Key Communities

Key Communities was formed in July 2005, building on long-standing partnership working that had existed between several of the partners.

Today, the partnership has seven members united in a common cause – to create communities where people want to live. Between them, the partners offer a unique blend of skills:

  • A track record of delivering large scale developments
  • Expertise in smaller, rural and special needs schemes
  • Excellent understanding of stakeholder needs
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Experienced development teams
  • Key worker expertise
  • Wide geographical influence throughout the eastern region and beyond
  • Local accountability

The lead partner in Key Communities, bpha, is a preferred development partner for the Housing Corporation’s National Affordable Housing Programme and is the HomeBuy agent for the two key zones that encompass the Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire sub-regions. With a ‘good’ two-star rating from the independent Audit Commission and the maximum four green lights from the Housing Corporation, bpha has proven ability to deliver.

bpha, through the Cambridgeshire Partnerships, has also been selected to deliver the Housing Corporation’s Cambridge Challenge. This new joint venture also includes two other members of Key Communities, King Street Housing Society and The Papworth Trust.

Bedfordshire Pilgrims Housing Association Limited (bpha) is registered as a Charitable Industrial and Provident Society (26751 R) and also with the Housing Corporation (LH 3887).
